For generations black artists, athletes and business leaders have come to terms with their path leading away from the black community. "Flies in the Buttermilk" is a podcast dedicated to exploring the often overlooked and misunderstood connection between Black culture and rock music. While rock is frequently associated with white musicians and mainstream Western culture, its foundations are deeply rooted in the African American experience. This podcast seeks to reframe the narrative, showcasing the contributions of Black artists to rock's development, shed light on the cultural forces that led to their erasure or marginalization and showcase artists currently living in the space.
